Sports cars, are rapidly becoming popular and are commonly used for racing purposes. They provide both comfort and speed, mainly due to the fact that they are light in weight and can be accelerated faster-up to 198 miles per hour. A classic example of an internationally renowned sports car which is manufactured by the Chevrolet division of the General Motors Corporation is the Chevrolet Corvette, or chevy corvette. As with many other sports cars, it has a V-8 engine at the front end and the driving wheels at the rear end.
It had been first introduced into the market in 1953 and is available in both a 2-door convertible (open style) and a 2-door coupe (closed style) body layout. The latest Corvette car- the Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 and Zo6 , has an attractive chassis made of lighter materials like aluminium, cotton and magnesium. There are rear brake cooling ducts and other safety features like a side-impact air-bag and large antilock displays. A unique heads-up display is available and the only drawback is the traditional push-button door handles. The body is three inches wider than other models due to the layered rear fenders. The10-spoke alloy wheels is another noteworthy feature of all these car.
